• What is this about? This information guide is all about Jane Austen – her life, works, and England.  The general purpose is to help a Jane Austen fan or student find a wide variety of relevant information in print, electronic, and audiovisual formats.  The assortment of sources in the pathfinder are both scholarly and entertaining.

  • Note: Most of the books and materials can be found at the St. Matthews branch.  (The St. Matthews library has a strong collection of Jane Austen materials.)  However, there are some good sources that are only housed at other branches.  This is noted in the guide.  You can request to have the materials at the other branches sent to St. Matthews by making a request in the online catalog or by asking a librarian.

  • Online catalog note: To limit a catalog search to just the St. Matthews branch, go to “Open Search Options” below the search box.  Choose “St. Matthews” from the list of libraries.  Choose “Set Search Options” and then conduct your search.

  • Book location note: In the St. Matthews library, reference books are located on the low bookshelf behind the reference desk.  Nonfiction books are located behind the reference desk close to the wall.  The biographies are on the wall to the right of the reference desk.  Fiction is to the left of the reference desk.  Videos and audio books are located to the left of the reference desk, across from the circulation desk.
